Why Rjukan?

The unique geography — a deep valley, little sun in winter, many waterfalls from the mountainsides — means the waterfalls freeze early and stay frozen for a long time. The season typically stretches from December to March.

The area has routes for all levels: everything from short beginner routes to long, demanding multi-pitch routes for experienced climbers. There is also a friendly ice climber culture in the town.

Courses and guided climbing

We collaborate with professional guides who arrange courses for beginners — you get equipment, instruction, and an unforgettable experience in a safe manner.

Every year, the Rjukan Ice Festival is also organized — an international event that attracts climbers from all over the world.
